Hobby Lobby Deceptive Sales Practices?

March 26, 2017 By Chris Cantrell

We are currently investigating alleged deceptive sales practices by Hobby Lobby in the State of California. Hobby Lobby operates over 600 retail stores nationwide selling primarily arts, crafts and small pieces of furniture.

It is alleged that Hobby Lobby is using a deceptive coupon scheme to sell merchandise at artificially inflated prices. Specifically, Hobby Lobby offers coupons for 40% off “one item at regular price only.” However, when a customer attempts to purchase items that have a regular discounted price, i.e., items that are marked “Always 30% off,” the customer is not allowed to purchase the product with the 40% off coupon from this “Always” discounted price. Instead, the customer is forced to buy the product from an artificially inflated price that significantly exceeds the “Always 30% off” price.

This type of “bait and switch” may violate of California’s consumer protection laws. If you, or someone you know, have purchased an item from Hobby Lobby since January 2014 using the 40% off coupon, we would like to speak to you about your experience. Please call us toll-free at 1-800-736-9085.
