There are thousands of complaints from owners of Lenovo Thinkpad W520 laptops who are experiencing shutdown problems. The shutdown problem seemingly occurs at random times and under various types of operations. To date it does not appear that Lenovo has been able to identify and offer a repair for this apparent defect. Many Lenovo owners have received new motherboards and even new computers only to continue to experience the shutdown problem.
The Lenovo Thinkpad W520 is an extremely popular high-end laptop designed for business use. Owners of the Lenovo W520 are obviously frustrated and disappointed that their expensive, high-end laptops are shutting down at intermittent (and frequently inopportune) times and at Lenovo’s inability to repair the problem.
If it is found that the W520 contains a defect there are numerous state and federal laws that provide consumers with a remedy against Lenovo. This is true in many cases even after the warranty period has expired. The remedies include claims pursuant to state consumer protection statutes, state common law and statutory warranty claims, and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. We have successfully used these claims against the manufacturers of defective computers in the past.
